The poster entitled “Enhanced Geothermal Systems in Polish Conditions” was presented in Zurich during the European Geothermal Congress 2025.
As part of Poland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union, geothermal energy was identified as a strategic priority—particularly in the context of energy security, climate policy, and climate change adaptation. On May 7, 2025, the AGH University of Science and Technology hosted the international conference “Geothermal Energy for Europe: Strategic Perspectives and Challenges.”
Between 9 and 11 April 2025, the 16th edition of the European Geothermal PhD Days was held in Szeged. As part of the project Multi-criteria Life Cycle Assessment of Geothermal Installations, funded under the AGH University of Krakow programme Excellence Initiative – Research University, PhD candidate Maciej Szymanek presented a poster addressing the influence of geological conditions on the behaviour of working fluids in Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS).
The World Groundwater Congress 2024, organized by the Swiss Society of Hydrogeology (SSH), the Center for Hydrogeology and Geothermal Engineering of the University of Neuchâtel (CHYN) and the International Association of Hydrogeologists (IAH), was held in Davos, Switzerland from 8th to 13th of September 2024.
We are pleased to announce that, thanks to the implementation of the project Multi-criteria Life Cycle Assessment of Geothermal Installations, funded under the Excellence Initiative – Research University programme at AGH University of Krakow in the years 2023–2025, we can continue our research on the operation of Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS) under Polish conditions, with particular emphasis on the environmental aspects of such installations.
